We have announced the exciting news that we are the head sponsor of the popular Isle of Man boxing competition, Thriller in the Villa. To be held on 2nd October at the Villa Marina, Douglas, this widely popular evening, which is now in its sixth year, brings male and female competitors out of their corners in aid of local charities. This year the amateur boxers will raise funds for local charities Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation, The Hospice and Rebecca House.
Thriller in the Villa pits 32 local contestants against each other in three 2 minute rounds of boxing. The event, which usually is a sell out within hours of tickets being released, is promising to be another huge fundraiser. Now in its 6th year, Thriller in the Villa has raised over £140,000 for local charities and organisations.
The brainchild of local resident Chris Mooney, Thriller in the Villa captures the attention of both the Manx public and local companies. Delighted to welcome mal as the main sponsor, Chris said “Thriller in the Villa has captured the hearts of a great many people on the Isle of Man. Running up to the night there is a lot of preparation and not least getting the guys and girls ready to step into the ring. Our primary purpose is to make sure that they are safe and so having the financial backing and support of mal, and the Knox group of companies, is a big relief as our preparation plans can now go into action. Although there is a lot of fun planned for the night, we also have the serious side which is to raise money for our local charities that rely on big fundraising events to achieve the financial support they need to carry on their good work.”
Suzanna Ogden, Managing Director of loans by mal said “mal’s focus is very much on growing its business and serving the local community. The tie-in with Thriller in the Villa underpins our intention to commit to supporting local charities and offering resources and financial support to them.”
